Scott Harvey 2019 Zinfandel 1869
2019 Scott Harvey Zinfandel "1869" Ancient Vines Amador County
San Francisco Wine Panel Score 99 Points
As great an Amador Zin as we have ever encountered and from California’s oldest documented Vineyard, this wine is Zin perfection. It opens with aromas of dry dark cherry, black cherry, raspberry coulis and dark boysenberry scents poised above background notes of dark earth and peppery bouillon. In the mouth, a deep mineral strain and polished tannins join notes of cherry pit, pink peppercorn and hazelnut husk to elevate the rich cherry-berry flavors and create a pinpoint balance for food service. The finish is sparkling pure and impressively lingering, with notes of sumac berry, pink peppercorn, cherry pit and red boysenberry at center-stage. A marvelous dinner wine, it will be terrific with grilled meats or braised goat. It should enjoy a long life. 377 cases produced.
