2017 HDV Chardonnay “Estate” Carneros
NVWE Notes: This lovely Chardonnay displays White Burgundy-esque density and class from the start to. The nose is a firm, concentrated medley of stone fruit, apple and mineral scents with baked apple, grilled peach, lemon curd, pie crust and sea shell notes all in focus. It is full-bodied yet lean on the palate, where flavors that mirror the aromas carry through a lingering finish where accents of honey, chestnut and saline minerality add depth. Delicious now, it will grow more so over the next several years.

The 2017 Chardonnay opens with pure notes of poached pears, white peach, quince and apple pie plus notions of citrus blossoms, smoke, toast and honeyed hints in the undercurrent—what a superb perfume! The palate is still youthfully wound, offering energetic citrus and mineral-laced fruits, tangy, vibrant and bright and finishing very long and nuanced. Drink Date 2020 - 2026.
