This is a stunningly rich Spatlese that is as delicious as it is true to its famous vineyard. At opening it unveils scents of key lime, grapefruit pith, green applesauce, violet and lavender that rise above a sharp note of slatey minerality and a hint of petrol. It is texturally enchanting and altogether wonderful on the palate, where vibrant citric notes, parching minerality and weightless yet tongue-coating texture uplifts flavors of grilled honey-coated grapefruit, crunchy fresh apple and key lime along with some gorgeous floral accents. Long-lingering and altogether delicious it should grow ever more graceful and aristocratic over the next eight years or so.
