This already appealing Cabernet delivers aromas of black currant, dark cherry syrup and blackberry which quietly rose above undercurrents of blueberry, dark tobacco, licorice root, backing spice and clove. It is richly oaky on the palate and displays fine length as it unveils its panorama of red currant, red cherry, blueberry, violet clove, cedar and sweet tobacco flavors. The long-lingering finish is food balanced and well evolved already, hiding its tannins attractively. It seems destined to be better in another 18-30 months. A blend of 85% Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% each of Charbono, Zinfandel, 7 Petite Sirah, all from Calistoga.
