Ferrington is famous for its flavor, intensity and longevity, and 2021 is clearly a great vintage. The aromas are a focused layering of boysenberry, black cherry, dark sour cherry, Santa Rosa plum galette, mocha, toffee, peppercorn, hazelnut husk and sweet pipe tobacco. Plush fruit and rich body take center-stage on the palate and share space with zest, tannin and bitter-sweet savory spice. That fruit lingers impressively at the finish with chiseled focus, and its generosity and brooding concentration are ever more impressive as the wine airs. A fine companion to caramelized beef roasts at this point, it will grow significantly in appeal for many years to come and may be destined for greatness. 250 cases produced.
