2017 Eleven Eleven Cabernet Sauvignon Laki’s Vineyard Oak Knoll, Napa Valley

NVWE Notes: Concentrated and luxuriously ripe, this big scale Cab is textbook 2017 in its plump mid-palate core of focused fruit. The nose overlays sweet-savory scents of date sugar, dark pipe tobacco, Russian Caravan tea, mineral notes and forest floor-spice with deeper, brighter, more potent aromas of black currant, red currant and dark cherry. The fruit seems down right thick on the mid-palate, where black currant, dark cherry and star anise lead the parade. The finish is food-balanced and dominated by sweet-natured cherry, anise and baking-spice notes that linger to submerges the wine’s otherwise substantial tannins. A guilty pleasure already, it promises at least three years of steady growth. 400 cases made.

Meaty and thick in dense black fruit, sage and olive, this is an intensely complex and savory wine from a warm vintage.
