This complex wine drinks with much of the gutsiness of a Cabernet, yet its component grapes (especially the Petite Verdot) are all well represented to the nose, and on the palate. The aromas and the flavors that follow are a focused mix of dark cherry, black raspberry, cassis, bitter chocolate, clove, mace and cedar, with an emerging core of blueberry and pomegranate syrup in the background. These elements are less expressive thus far in the lingering finish yet everything shows an underlying sense of power that is unexpected in such a blend, and the result is impressive. It will be delicious now with dark roasts, steaks and the like, but don’t be surprised if it grows in dimension for another four years or more. A blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot. 750 cases produced
