NVWE Notes: Perhaps the finest example of this bottling yet released, the 2014 opens with a deeply rich, focused and graceful perfume of dark boysenberry, black cherry, Italian Maraschino cherry, pomegranate syrup, clove, cedar, mace, baking-spice, vanilla, coffee bean, mocha, tobacco leaf and dried herbal scents. The flavors prove both tongue-coating and delightfully supple, and they roll-out in a lovely harmony of youthfully zesty red fruit and pretty spice. The lingering finish is as delicious and satisfying as expected but, as with the mid-palate, it lags behind the nose in its evolution. Don’t be surprised when this “easy drinker” gets better for another five or ten years. Blended with 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot & 1% Petite Verdot. 2155 cases produced.
