Sweet-natured from the gate and much in line with Dunn’s best previous “Napa” bottlings, this classy effort opens with deep scents of black cherry, red currant and bottled Italian cherry, backed by notes of dried cherry, violet, toast, cedar clove, graphite and laurel. It is lean and concentrated on the palate, and delivers all of the promised flavors as a lingering fruit and spice driven medley. Sleek and too rich in tannin to be called racy, it certainly will match its intensity with impressive elegance if allowed another four years or so of cellar time.
