2022 Domaine Della Pinot Noir Terra del Promissio Vineyard, Petaluma Gap

Promissio is a famous and distinctive vineyard that ages well yet is often delicious in it’s youth. Low key, yet focused and displaying fruit true to this site, the nose offers aromas centered on sweet dark cherry, Campari and blood orange, with background notes of baking spice and hazelnut. The 2022 vintage seems a bit heftier in the mouth than expected, yet has fine zest and firm, youthful fruit, supported by refined yet notable tannins. On the palate, the flavors of cranberry, red cherry, boysenberry, blood orange, baking spice and hazelnut come to the forefront and linger with richness, focus and fine length. Already a fine dinner wine, if allowed a bit of airing, this beauty will certainly become even finer if allowed another two or three years of cellar time.
