NVWE Notes: If at first a hint youthfully shy, the nose of this fine Cab opens to reveal aromas centered on blackberry, blueberry and dark cherry attractively accented by notes of clove, vanilla and hazelnut husk. Fine fruit zest and polished tannic grip combine to create a racy feel on the palate, where focused flavors of blueberry, mulberry and star anise rise above an emerging core of dark cherry to push through a lingering finish. If perfect for service with short ribs or Prime Rib it will not overwhelm grilled chicken or roast pork. Expect another year or two of positive growth. Composed of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon District 4 has a deep garnet-purple color, sailing out of the glass with lively scents of redcurrant jelly, ripe black cherries and mulberries, giving way to an undercurrent of cassis, cinnamon stick and tobacco leaf. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers bags of energetic black and red fruits with fantastic tension and a chewy texture, finishing with a perfumed skip in its step. Drink Date 2020 - 2032.
