Diochon 2023 Moulin a Vent VV
2023 Diochon Moulin a Vent Vielles Vignes Beajolais
San Francisco Wine Panel Score 93 Points
Moulin a Vent is famously the most age-worthy of Beaujolais and this finely crafted wine is in the classic format. The nose is a coiled, almost brooding medley of Lingonberry, red plum, red raspberry, cherry pit, and red rose scents, with suggestions of dried rosemary, sumac powder and forest earth in the background. It is crisp and focused on the palate, with rich body and some tannic grip and these combine to both project the fruit forward and cement the wines impression of youth. The finish is very long and the wine is clearly styled for food service, so although it may be a few years away from its full expression, it would be splendid right now with roast goose or seared duck breast.
