From a vineyard planted in the 1890s, this is a gorgeous and dinner friendly red. The nose is a focused, notably bright medley of Santa Rosa plum preserve, boysenberry, black raspberry, violet, pink rose, pink peppercorn, sumac berry, licorice root and mineral scents. It is piquantly fresh, juicy, ultra-forthcoming in fruit and spice and outright scrumptious on the palate, where the lingering finish… delivering delicious flavors that perfectly mirror the nose… is vibrant, focused and just gripping enough to make pairing with steaks, stews, barbecued chicken, grilled sausage and the like an easy choice. It is almost as refreshing as it is seductive. A blend of Carignane and Mourvedre, from vines planted in 1890. 300 cases produced.
