Coup de Foudra Cuvee 37.2 Proprietary Red Wine, Calistoga, Napa Valley 2017
NVWE Notes: This notably complex, texturally appealing bottling delivers a dark fruity-savory mix, that is well-evolved despite the wine’s comparative youth. The aromas are a layering of mulberry, blueberry, licorice root, black tea, tobacco, sandalwood and dark earth scents that float above a zestier core of dark cherry and cassis. Things are a bit more reserved on the palate, if just as deep, as flavors of mulberry, blueberry, pomegranate molasses, black fig, black currant, black licorice, star anise, sandalwood, forest-floor spice and dark pipe tobacco all roll-out. If firmer still and less developed at the finish, the wine is already imminently food-worthy. Expect it to grow in grace and suppleness over the next few years. A blend of 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc & 25% Petite Verdot. 470 cases produced.
