NVWE Notes: Native to northern Spain and Portugal, this varietal is rarely seen from California and this zesty, dense, distinctive and dinner-worthy version captures it’s personality well. The aromas are a bright, forthcoming mix of quince, green apple skin, chestnut and white rose, with citric undercurrents. There is a contrast of richness and piquancy on the palate, where apricot pit and nut husk notes counterpoint the denser fruit tones prominent in the nose. The finish cuts dry and lingers with vibrant flavors of apple skin, membrillo, chestnut, white rose and a hint of lemon peel. Ready to enjoy, it will serve nicely with sautéed pork chops and apples in Madiera sauce and do just as well with seared scallops. 75 cases produced.
