Gorgeous and radiantly fruity-spicy from the start, this is certain to become a great Pinot Noir. The wine opens piquantly fresh, with a panorama of boysenberry, lingonberry, cranberry sauce, sweet picked crab apple, sour red cherry and preserved umeboshi plum fruit scents. Beneath that fruit are supporting counterpoints of  pink peppercorn, seashell-like minerality and rich rooty spice. There is a defining tension on the palate to temper the notably plush fruit, and this helps create drama through its mix of brightness and density, and also by how easily it overwhelms the wine’s rich spine of tannin. The lingering flavors sparkle with focused red berry and pomegranate fruit backed by notes of sandalwood and saline minerality. Terrific now, it is at minimum four years from delivering all it has to offer. 486 6-packs produced.
