Zest and polished tannins create a leaner more coiled impression on the palate, yet the focused flavors of red cherry, red plum and red currant linger impressively and finish with a push of star anise and a suggestion of dried herbs. If several years from becoming the luxurious wine it has been in the past, it can be enjoyed now, especially with sauced or fatty meats.
