The O.G. bottling is always the boldest and most concentrated wine Carter makes and the 2020 follows form. The aromas are a firm, deeply etched mix of sour red cherry, black cherry, red currant, cassis, black raspberry, dark rose, star anise, clove, baking spice, dark pipe tobacco, toffee and dark earth scents. Things are gutsy, concentrated and impressively gripping on the palate where the sappy piquant flavors of dark cherry, black cherry, black raspberry, pomegranate syrup, violet, dark rose, star anise and dark pipe tobacco seem to last for minutes. Although at least six to eight years from its peak, it is something to see already.
