2020 produced a more youthfully reserved version of the “Carter” bottling and this version has aromas suggestive of two fruit sources. The nose opens with dark cherry, blueberry, black currant and mulberry scents sweetly accented by notes of sage, laurel, clove, cedar and dark earth. It is already fairly supple on the palate where the tannins are polished while the flavors swing more toward red cherry, red currant, cassis, toasted rosemary, laurel, sage and cedar. The lingering flavors prove a tighter mirror of the mid-palate. A blend of To Kalon and Las Piedras Vineyard fruit, it is likely several years from its full realization.
