NVWE Notes: Sweet-natured, forthcoming and packed with opulent, precisely focused fruit, this is likely the best Fortuna Vineyard Cabernet ever produced. The nose melds dark sour cherry, red currant, black raspberry, dark plum and violet pastille scents with others of clove, cedar, tobacco, baking-spice, coffee bean, date sugar, dark toffee and dry-edged minerality. It is even more expressive and sweet-natured on the palate, where m  uch greater elegance becomes apparent. The mid-plate and endlessly lingering flavors are ultra supple wave of sour red cherry, dark cherry, red currant and violet that utterly submerges the wines tannic underpinnings. Glorious now, it will grow ever better for at least the next five years. Extremely scarce.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Fortuna Vineyard has a deep garnet-purple color and a gorgeous perfume of red roses, Ceylon tea and lavender over a core of cassis, blackberry pie and boysenberries plus hints of unsmoked cigars, fragrant earth and bouquet garni. Full-bodied, the palate shimmers with beautiful energy and freshness, featuring crunchy black and blue fruits and a firm, grainy texture, finishing long and savory. Drink Date 2022 - 2040.
