Camino 2017 Chardonnay Soberanes
2017 Camino Cellars Chardonnay Soberanes Vineyard Santa Lucia Highlands
NVWE Notes: This delicious and food-worthy bottling opens with aromas of pineapple core, lemon sorbet, fresh applesauce, quince, lemon meringue pie, vanilla wafer and suggestion of toasted grain. Aromatically it is textbook “Soberanes vineyard”, although Camino prefers a brighter style and leaner texture than others. On the mid-palate the extra brightness and firming mineral undercurrents subdue the expected creamy generosity, although this note builds as the wine airs and warms in the glass. The finish proves lingering and richly satisfying, as flavors of lemon cream, pineapple shuffle, baked apple, quince, coriander seed, and baking-spice achieve a succulent harmony. If likely better in a year’s time, it will be just terrific now with seared scallops and a myriad of other sauced entrees. 100 cases made.
