Camino 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon
2017 Camino Cabernet Sauvignon Montecillo Vieyard Moon Mountain, Sonoma
NVWE Notes: Although clearly built for cellaring, this gutsy Cab from 53 year-old mountain vines offers dramatic surprises already. Typifying its Moon Mountain appellation from start to finish, it opens with flamboyant aromas of black currant, blackberry, mulberry, Asian plum sauce, date sugar, dark tobacco, charcoal, graphite, toasted rosemary and forest-floor spice. It is notably heavy in body, with substantial tannins below intense flavors that build with airing toward an extremely long, opulent finish. At the end, the focused notes of black currant, blackberry, plum sauce and black licorice achieve full harmony with the wines sweet-savory spice and intense minerality. Likely at least five years from its full expression it should prove a hedonistic partner to braised short ribs and the like now. 125 cases produced.
