Calluna 2017 CVC Red
2017 Calluna “CVC” Proprietary Red Wine Chalk Hill Sonoma
San Francisco Wine Panel Score: 92 Points
NVWE Notes: Textbook Chalk Hill in its combination of firming tannins and dark mineral undertones, this racy Bordeaux-esque blend offers aromas of black currant, mulberry, blueberry, vanilla, clove, graphite, charcoal and dark pipe tobacco. In the mouth it proves texturally sleek, as polished tannins, minerality and zesty fruit notes combine to suppress any impression of plumpness and create a notably food-friendly balance. The flavors are forthcoming, focused and lingering, and they fan-out as a harmonious medley of blueberry, dark plum, mulberry, black currant, clove, cedar, vanilla, baking-spice and graphite. Certainly tasty now, it should yet improve for another year or two. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot & Malbec, 854 cases produced.
