Vividly fruity, intense and notably peppery, the nose of this classic old vine Zin jumps forth with brilliantly expressed aromas of fresh cracked black peppercorn, black raspberry, dark cherry and fig above a background of dark forests spice. It is as gutsy as expected on the palate, where fruit zest, firming yet polished tannins and mineral underpinnings project the flavors to the forefront. The finish is as flavor-packed and juicy as hoped, with raspberry, cherry, peppercorn and graphite at center-stage. A perfect companion to fat-layered grilled meats and tomato sauce drenched entrees right now, it will be texturally softer and just as intense two years from now.
