Deep yet vibrantly fresh, the nose of this terrific young wine is layered with a plush, focused medley of dark sour cherry, boysenberry, red currant, cherry cream sickle, sweet tobacco leaf, baking spice, toffee, mocha, forest earth and cardamom scents. It proves both as plush and energetic as expected on the palate, where everything promised by the nose is delivered, but is made even brighter by additional flavors of pomegranate, blood orange and star anise. The finish is marvelously long and delivers the same combination of penetrating fruit, rich savory spice and vibrant freshness that was so obvious on the mid-plate. An absolutely gorgeous dinner wine now, it is sure to grow in dimension for at least three years and more likely five.
