NVWE Notes: Contrasts of Russian River-style zest and Anderson Valley richness are notable when this wine is opened, yet airing brings a more graceful harmony. With airing, focused scents of dark sour cherry, Bing cherry, red boysenberry and whortleberry gradually integrate with Ferrington’s creamy toffee, mocha and tobacco notes. Bright flavors of dark cherry, boysenberry, red currant, pomegranate, red raspberry and blueberry seem even more brightly focused and linger nicely on the palate, where tannin and minerality bring firmness and sweet-savory spice notes create a warming backdrop. Another two years in the cellar should bring ever increasing elegance and richness to this wine, yet it will be very satisfying now with roast pork duck and other fatty treats.
