Combining the richness and the varietal accuracy of its great vintage, this is a stellar Cabernet. The nose is a plush medley of black cherry, dark plum compote, black raspberry, pomegranate syrup, violet, licorice root, briar, dried herb and forest floor scents. It is plump and juicy on the palate, where the mountain tannins are well suppressed by deep cherry compote, cassis, licorice root, toasted cedar, dry sage, coffee toffee and hazelnut flavors. Those flavors linger in a creamy-rich, tongue-coating melange that seems ideal for service for a grand beef roast or lamb leg. It will certainly get better for three to five years and likely longer. 880 cases produced.
