Anthem invariably does well with this famous vineyard and the buoyantly youthful 2019 is no exception. The nose focuses on vibrant,  coiled aromas of sour dark cherry, Creme de Cassis, boysenberry,  Mr. Lincoln rose, violet, laurel, toffee and star anise. It is bright yet palate-coating in the mouth where polished tannins firm and focus lavish red fruit flavors that pour through an ultra-long finish where notes of laurel, rosemary and graphite provide complex counterpoints. If certain to fully blossom within the next twelve months, it is just as certain to layer-on even more depth, elegance and overall appeal throughout the next four to eight years. 315 cases produced.

This wine is big in flavor and full in body, warmly spiced with cinnamon and cedar notes over rich black cherries and cassis flavors. Aged in French barrels, 75% of which were new, the wine is drinkable now for its lush fruits and broad texture, but will be best from 2025. Jim Gordon
