Ancienne 2018 Pinot Noir Jouissance
2018 Ancien Pinot Noir “Jouissance” Russian River Valley Perez Vineyard
San Francisco Wine Panel Score 95 Points
This beauty shouts it Russian River heritage with a buoyant push of opulent red fruit. The aromas are a vibrantly fresh mix of black cherry, red boysenberry, Elephant Heart plum, pomegranate, red raspberry, red rose, violet, pink peppercorn, sandalwood, baking-spice and hazelnut scents. It is more youthfully coiled on the palate, where piquant fruit, rich oak tones and polished tannins cut through the otherwise tongue-coating richness. The lingering finish captures all the aromatic promise, adding Kirsch and hazelnut husk suggestions. Delicious now for it’s exuberant fruitiness and a fine companion to seared duck or grilled salmon already, it will prove a much grander wine if cellared for three or four more years. 308 cases produced.
