Textbook Adelaida Estate Cabernet fruit leaps forth in the focused, attractively concentrated aromas of this wine. The nose is centered on sour red cherry, cherry pit, red current jam, black raspberry, Santa Rosa plum compote and violet fruit poised above savory notes of star anise, baking spice and sweet tobacco. It is richer than expected on the palate, where polished tannins and piquant fruit zest bring raciness to an otherwise plush mouth-feel. The finish is very long and is attractively firmed by zest and mineral undercurrents. Delicious now, it will broaden in texture and grow more elegant over the next two years and should drink beautifully for the following five and likely well beyond. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1427 cases produced.
