The 2022 Chardonnay HMR Estate Vineyard was barrel fermented and matured for nine months in 30% new French oak. It has pure, alluring scents of warm peaches, quince paste, honey, graham cracker, toast and allspice. The medium-bodied palate boasts expansive, hedonistic, mouth-coating flavors, a balance of energetic acidity and a long, flavorful finish. 460 cases were made. Drink Date: 2025 - 2035. Likely the equal of any Paso Robles Chardonnay in modern memory, this classy wine is already complex to the nose, where focused fruit and mineral-laced spice interact. That nose delivers a tense medley of white peach, baked apple, quince, nutmeg, baking spice, hazelnut meringue and slate scents. It proves racy and sleek on the palate, where the flavors are youthfully firm yet penetrating, as notes of lemon meringue, peach, baked apple, quince, nutmeg and baking spice glide through a lingering, food worthy finish. The balance is already perfect, although another year of cellar time may amplify the richness. 460 cases produced.
