Adelaida 2021 Pinot Noir HMR Vineyard, Paso Robles
2021 Adelaida Pinot Noir HMR Vineyard, Adelaida District, Paso Robles
San Francisco Wine Panel Score 94+ Points
Planted in 1964 the HMR vineyard has always been mineral-edged and quietly gutsy, yet seldom has it shown such flavor development upon release as in 2021. The nose opens as piquantly fruity as it is minerally, with aromas of dried Michigan cherry, cranberry liqueur, red plum tart, pink peppercorn, star anise, baking spice and sweet tobacco each a harmonious contributor to the mix. On the palate it is at once gutsy-minerally, vividly fruity and shows polished tannins that never intrude on the mid-palate fruit or the wine’s very long, structured finish. Already a great accompaniment to entrees as diverse as seared duck breast and Prime Rib, it is likely two or three years or so from its full expression. 1358 cases produced.
