In the nose, scents of blackberry, cassis, dark cherry compote, violet, cedar, clove, toffee, licorice root, dark pipe tobacco and baking spice rise above a background of dark earth. It proves as intense as hoped in the mouth, where an iron backbone supports impressively generous fruit that comes with a surprisingly supple mouth-feel. This combination brings early appeal to a wine destined to be long-lived. The lasting flavor memory is of a rush of blueberry, Amarena cherry and sweet-savory spice.
